"O WordPress é uma importante ferramenta para a publicação na web pois permite que os coletivos tenham voz e espalhem suas idéias, produções, etc". Esse é o comentário de Cátia Kitahara, webdesigner há mais de 10 anos, sócia do Hacklab, trabalha com WordPress e participa ativamente na Comunidade Brasileira de WordPress. "A comunidade começou com um grupo de pessoas que traduziram o WordPress (CMS). Hoje nossa atuação é difundida em vários lugares do país, são voluntários que ajudam na tradução, moderam o fórum, publicam plugins ou temas", comenta.

Foi Cátia quem organizou o primeiro WordCamp Brasil, em 2009, na Funarte. "Em 2009, aproveitamos a vinda do Matt Mullenweg, criador da ferramenta, para um outro evento. Depois tivemos dois WordCamp's, em Curitiba, no ano de 2010".
