Jarbas Jacome, do LabOca, compartilhou a participação do Jer Thorp para o TED que aconteceu no mês de novembro de 2011, em Vancouver. No vídeo a seguir, Thorp comenta sobre o Hipercard, programa computacional feito para os usuários criarem seus próprios programas.

Se pudéssemos mostrar aos criadores do computador que haveria um dia em que todo mundo teria seu próprio computador, mas que ninguém saberia programar, eles pensariam que somos loucos.

No sentido de "bricole você mesmo", Marcelo Braz compartilhou a possibilidade de metareciclar televisores da Samsung e blueray com players mais baratos, com smarthub, para rodarem linux(1,2).
