Isaac perguntou na lista se alguém já havia testado ou se conhecia o MakeyMakey, segundo os próprios inventores (que pediram $ aqui), trata-se de "um meio para transformar objetos cotidianos em touchpads e, assim combiná-los com a internet".

Se eu entendi bem o projeto, acho que da pra algo bem parecido com isso daí desmontando um joystick desses estilo playstation USB de 15 reais. Daí usa o objeto [hid] no puredata pra empacotar os dados pra outros protocolos. Fiz algo parecido nas oficinas do Toscolino, na UFRJ, em 2010, a gente desmontava joysticks pra fazer guitarrinhas:
